Biography of Thomas Harris
Thomas Harris is an American writer and journalist, best known for his series of novels featuring the character Hannibal Lecter. While most people are familiar with the films about the eccentric cannibal, Harris himself prefers to remain in the shadows. Nevertheless, there are a few things known about him. Like his most famous character, Harris enjoys good food and is a skilled cook.

Early Life and Education
Harris was born in Jackson, Tennessee and later moved with his family to Rich, Mississippi. As a child, he was extremely introverted and a voracious reader. However, by the time he reached high school, Harris was able to overcome his shyness and undergo a significant transformation. He attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where he specialized in English and obtained his degree in 1964.

Career
While still a student, Harris worked as a reporter for the local newspaper, the Waco Tribune-Herald, where he covered crime news. In 1968, he moved to New York City and joined the Associated Press, working there until 1974. It was during this time that Harris began writing his first book, "Black Sunday."
Personal Life
Very little is known about Harris's personal life, as he carefully guards his privacy. He has not given any interviews since 1976. It is known that he married a fellow student named Harriet while in university, and they had a daughter, but their marriage ended in divorce. Rumor has it that Harris maintained a close relationship with his mother, speaking to her on the phone every evening and occasionally discussing episodes from his books. His mother passed away on December 31, 2011.
Currently, Thomas Harris resides in South Florida and Sag Harbor, New York, with his partner Pace Barnes. Barnes, who reportedly has a background in publishing, is known for her outgoing personality, in contrast to the calm and quiet Harris. Harris is also an excellent cook and has even passed exams from Le Cordon Bleu. He thoroughly enjoys spending time in the kitchen, fully immersing himself in the cooking process.
