Biography of Timofey Fedorov

Timofey Fedorov, whose real name is Dmitry Chopenko, is a renowned actor and Honored Artist of Russia. He was born and raised in Kharkov and managed to successfully combine his studies in a general education school (which he graduated with honors) with classes at music and sports schools, receiving a well-rounded education. After completing school, he enrolled in the Kharkov Theater Institute, where he studied under the guidance of E. Lysenko. From his second year, he started working at the A. S. Pushkin Kharkov State Academic Theater.

Early Career

One day, director Tumaev came to Kharkov to select actors for his film "Pedagogical Poem." He noticed the promising actor Timofey Fedorov and approved him for one of the main roles. However, Timofey was unable to participate in the film because the production of "Pedagogical Poem" was soon abandoned. Nevertheless, his photo reached Mosfilm and played a role in his future career.

Success and Recognition

Some time later, Timofey Fedorov (still known as Dmitry Chopenko) was invited by director Yevgeny Evtushenko to appear in his film "Funeral of Stalin." This offer came at a time when the actor was already busy with children's New Year's fairy tales. He managed to find time for filming and arrived in Moscow. He recalls his first on-screen experience: "The first shooting day was on February 18. The rehearsals were great. I had to play a scene with a girl. We were drinking tea in her apartment, she was pouring it for me. Then we read poetry, she invited me to dance, kissed me, and I fainted. There was no sexual education back then. I thought, what a great profession, you get to kiss girls and get paid for it. The first take went well, as did the second - everything was fine. By the eighth girl, I was tired of reading poetry and kissing. They let the girls go, but told me to stay. By the twenty-sixth girl, I didn't want to get paid or kiss anymore... And the girl they eventually approved was later replaced by another..."

Acting and Directing Career

Timofey Fedorov graduated from the Kharkov Theater Institute with honors. From 1991 to 1993, he worked at the Moscow New Drama Theater, and then, until 2000, at the Moscow Drama Theater named after N.V. Gogol. He occasionally appeared in films, with his first roles being credited under his real name Dmitry Chopenko, but later he is credited as Timofey Fedorov. His first major success came with the role of Kostya Savchenko in the historical film "Iron Curtain," for which he received the Prize for Best Acting Debut at the "Constellation-95" film festival.

Later Career

In the following years, Timofey Fedorov played various roles in films such as "Count of Monte Cristo," "Tango Over the Abyss," and "Judge in a Trap." Since 2000, he has been an actor at the R.N. Simonov Theater, where he has performed in plays such as "Three Ages of Casanova" and "Jealous of Herself." In the new century, Timofey Fedorov began to appear more frequently on screen, playing a range of characters in films and TV series such as "Behind the Scenes," "Golden Boys," "Cursed Paradise," and "City Romance." He has also taken on the role of director, directing films such as "Rookery," "I Won't Return," and "Paparazzo."
