Toby Keith Covel was born in Clinton, Oklahoma, on July 8, 1961. From a young age, he was surrounded by music at his grandmother's club, where he encountered various talents. At age 8, he received a real guitar and eagerly embraced the instrument, becoming proficient in playing it.
High School Years and Early Band
During his high school years, Keith was an active and social student. He played on the school's football team and was the life of the party. At age 20, he formed his own band, "Easy Money." Initially, the band performed at local bars and eateries, as Keith lacked connections in the music industry.
Rising Star in Texas
By 1984, Keith and "Easy Money" had gained recognition in Texas and nearby states. Their song "Blue Moon" captivated the hearts of audiences. Ten years later, Keith ventured to Nashville, the hub of country music and major record labels.
Breakthrough and Major Label Success
Despite initial skepticism, Keith caught the attention of Mercury Records. His demo impressed the label, leading to a contract. In 1993, he released his debut single, "Should've Been a Cowboy," which catapulted him to success. This was followed by the platinum-selling album "Boomtown" (1994) and "Blue Moon" (1996), which enjoyed similar popularity.
