Air Corps Service
In 1941, Tom Poston joined the United States Army Air Corps and received pilot training. Despite his military duties during World War II, Poston never forgot his passion for acting. He dreamed of pursuing his education and becoming an actor after the war. During the war, he served in North Africa, Italy, France, and England.
Acting Career
After the war, Tom Poston moved to New York to study acting. By the 1950s, he had gained recognition in the theater world and received various awards. In 1959, he won the prestigious Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He was also nominated for the Emmy Award multiple times in the 1980s.
