Biography of Tanya Lewis-Lee
Early Life and EducationTanya Lewis-Lee was born on March 15, 1966, in the United States. From a young age, she was committed to fighting racial injustice and helping those in need. She obtained her education from Sarah Lawrence College in 1988 and graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1991.
Career as an Attorney
Initially, Tanya embarked on a career as a lawyer. She worked at the law firm "Nixon Hargrave Devans & Doyle" in New York City, where she served the company "Gannett, Inc."
Transition to the Entertainment Industry
In the late 1990s, Tanya's career took a sharp turn as she ventured into the entertainment industry. She created successful television projects, including the show "Black History Month" from 1998 to 2002, which highlighted the achievements of successful African Americans. Esteemed guests such as Gregory Hines, Savion Glover, Whoopi Goldberg, and Queen Latifah were featured on the show. In 2002, Tanya co-authored a children's book titled "Please Baby Please" with her husband, actor Spike Lee. The book featured illustrations by renowned artist Kadir Nelson. Additionally, she appeared in the film "Winning Girls Through Psychic Mind Control" that same year.
