Biography of Tracy Neuls

Early Life and Passion for Footwear

Tracy Neuls was born on the west coast of Canada, almost in the wilderness where there were few cities. Perhaps this is what led her to create her own world - urban life - even in her childhood. She was one of those children who constantly asked questions and had an early interest in art and crafts. At the age of nine, Tracy discovered a passion for footwear and began creating her own sandals out of cardboard, using sticky tape and a stapler. Instead of heels, she attached toilet paper rolls, and these sandals were amazing and fully functional - Tracy would proudly wear them out in public.

Journey into Fashion Design

After finishing school in Canada, Tracy realized that she wouldn't be able to pursue her desired education in the field that interested her the most. Therefore, she decided to go to Vancouver, British Columbia, to study fashion design. Ten years passed, during which she started designing swimwear and sportswear for Jantzen, a company that eventually led her to Portland, USA, where she headed one of Nike's departments. For three years, her team created swimwear for this globally renowned brand. Then, Tracy decided to test her luck and moved to London.

Design Education in London

London received Tracy rather coldly - she had no job, but she had the certainty that footwear was the most important thing in her life. She discovered that the famous Cordwainers College, which trains footwear specialists, was located there, and she knew she had to pursue her dream. Since Tracy already had design experience, the technical aspects interested her the most at the college. She won numerous competitions, including the prestigious New Generation Award, which was previously won by Alexander McQueen and John Galliano.

Design Philosophy and TN_29

Design has always been a form of communication and a space in which Tracy believes we live. She is not guided by fashion trends or any systems that dictate when and what we should wear. Tracy is interested in creating her own designs for independently thinking individuals with vibrant personalities. Comfort and the materials used are important aspects of her design, and Tracy desires to incorporate high-tech materials used in other fields into footwear. Today, all of Tracy Neuls' creative interest is focused on her own women's footwear company - TN_29.
