Troy O'Donovan Garity was born on July 7, 1973, in Los Angeles, California, USA. He is an American actor, best known for his role as Isaac Rosenberg in the film "Barbershop".

Troy Garity is the son of actress Jane Fonda and politician and activist Tom Hayden. He is the grandson of Henry Fonda, the nephew of Peter Fonda, and the cousin of Bridget Fonda. He also has a half-sister, Vanessa Vadim.

As a child, Troy spent a summer at the "Lauren Springs" arts camp in Santa Barbara. Growing up, he moved to New York to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and start his acting career in Los Angeles. He adopted the surname "Garity" from his grandmother, who was named after two activist warriors, and his full name, Troy O'Donovan Garity, became a nostalgic act. His parents did not want to choose between their last names, so they chose "Garity" to support his mother's Irish lineage. His first name, "Troy," was borrowed from the Vietnamese word "Troi," associated with bravery and sacrifice.

In 2006, Garity was involved with Simone Bent, an African-American party personality, aspiring actress, and manager at the "Rising Sun" theater company in New York City. Simone directed a short film called "Escape from Eden". Garity's mother, Jane Fonda, referred to Simone as his future bride. They got married on August 27, 2007.

Acting Career

In 1981, Garity appeared in the drama film "On Golden Pond" alongside his mother and grandfather. He played the role of a young boy on the dock. He portrayed his father, Tom Hayden, in the biographical film "Steal This Movie" in 2000. Additionally, he starred in the crime comedy film "Bandits" in 2001.

Garity gained recognition for his role as Isaac Rosenberg in the film "Barbershop" and received critical acclaim for his performance as Barry Winchell in the drama "Soldier's Girl" in 2003.
