Political Persecution and Unjust Execution
In 1937, Osmonov became a victim of the Stalinist political purges. He was falsely accused of being a member of anti-Soviet organizations and involved in a plot to overthrow the Soviet government. A military tribunal sentenced him to death by firing squad on October 4, 1937.
Rehabilitation and Legacy
In 1958, Osmonov and his wife were posthumously rehabilitated. Osmonov's daughter, Fatima, spent years seeking compensation for the family's losses and the return of confiscated property, but her efforts were largely unsuccessful. Tyuryabiek Osmonov remains a symbol of the tragic toll of political repression during that dark period in Kazakhstan's history.
