Biography of Ugo Mulas
Ugo Mulas was an Italian photographer who was born on August 28, 1928. He initially studied law in Milan in 1948 but quickly abandoned it to pursue art courses at the Brera Fine Arts Academy. In 1954, he was offered the opportunity to exhibit his works at the Venice Biennale, an international art exhibition, and continued to participate in these exhibitions until 1972, marking a significant milestone in his professional career.

Professional Career
Ugo Mulas collaborated with several Italian magazines and engaged in commercial photography, including advertising campaigns for companies such as 'Pirelli' and 'Olivetti'. In 1959, while in Florence, the photographer discovered Veruschka Von Lehndorff, who later became an actress and the first supermodel from Germany, known simply as Veruschka.
During the Spoleto Festival in 1962, Mulas developed a friendship with sculptor Alexander Calder, who became a central figure in Mulas' photographic and writing works. In 1964, while shooting at the Venice Biennale, Mulas met several American artists, art historians, and art dealer Leo Castelli. This encounter led Mulas to travel to New York City and explore the pop art scene. This experience led to the creation of one of his most famous works, a book and exhibition titled 'New York, the New Art Scene', which included contact sheets by Mulas and ecological portraits of artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Barnett Newman, and Roy Lichtenstein.
Legacy and Death
After battling a serious illness for several years, Ugo Mulas passed away on March 2, 1973. His photography continues to be celebrated for its artistic vision and contribution to the documentation of the art world of his time.
