Biography of Julia Ostapenko
Julia Ostapenko was born in 1980 in Lviv, Ukraine, where she currently resides. She is a writer and a psychologist by profession, teaching at the Pedagogical College of Lviv National University.
Early Writing Career
Ostapenko began publishing her works in various periodicals in Russia and Ukraine in 2002. In 2003, her fantasy genre works were shortlisted for the national Russian award "Debut." She also won several online writing competitions, including "Rvany Grelok-8," which led to the inclusion of two of her stories in the anthology "Humane Shot in the Head."
Published Works
As an author, Julia Ostapenko has written three published novels, with her first one, "Hatred," being released in 2005. She has also published a collection of short stories. Her individual stories have been featured in magazines such as "Polden, XXI Vek," "If," "Reality of Science Fiction," "Milky Way," "Threshold," and "Rock-Oracle," as well as in science fiction anthologies.
Literary Judge
Ostapenko has also served as a judge for literary competitions in the science fiction genre, including "Black Jack 2" and "Third Day."
