Biography of Uran Sarbagishev
Uran Sarbagishev was a Soviet and Kyrgyz dancer and ballet master. He was born in Kyrgyzstan and became a renowned figure in the world of ballet. Sarbagishev was honored with the title of People's Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR and received the State Prize of the USSR.
Early Life and Education
Sarbagishev completed his training at the Leningrad State Academic Choreographic School under the guidance of V.I. Shelkov. He excelled in his studies and developed a passion for classical and national ballet.
Dance Career
In 1955, Sarbagishev joined the Kyrgyz State Order of Lenin Theater of Opera and Ballet as a leading dancer. He performed principal roles in classical ballets and national productions such as "Anar," "Kuyruchuk," and "Asel" by Vladimir Vlasov, as well as "Cholpon" by Mikhail Raukhverger, among others.
In 1966, Sarbagishev was appointed as the chief ballet master of the Kyrgyz Theater of Opera and Ballet. He choreographed and directed numerous acclaimed productions, including "Asel," "Prometheus," "Spartacus," "Kuyruchuk," "Macbeth," "Tomiris," "One Thousand and One Nights," "Bow to the Sun," "The Legend of Manas," "Bastille," "Le Corsaire," "The Land of Smiles," "Don Quixote," "Ai-Churek," and "Tales of the Vienna Woods."
Award-Winning Work
One of Sarbagishev's notable achievements was his ballet-oratorio "Mother's Field," based on the novel of the same name by Chingiz Aitmatov. This production earned him the prestigious State Prize of the USSR.
