Career in Japan
From 1996 to 2002, Wakamatsu proudly represented her homeland, Japan, in ladies' singles skating. However, despite her unwavering determination, she faced limitations on the national stage, never reaching the podium at the Japanese Championships.
Partnership with Jean-Sebastien Fecteau
A pivotal moment in her career came in 2002 when she joined forces with Canadian pair skater Jean-Sebastien Fecteau. Fecteau, known for his exceptional partnering skills, recognized Wakamatsu's unique flexibility and artistic flair at the 2001 Skate America.
Their partnership brought unprecedented success. Together, they achieved a silver medal at the 2006 Four Continents Championships. Their performances were characterized by daring lifts and acrobatic sequences, showcasing Wakamatsu's extraordinary range of motion and Fecteau's technical virtuosity.
Retirement and Future Aspirations
