Vera Tschechowa was a German actress, born in Berlin on June 6, 1940. Her mother, Ada Tschechowa, was an actress and the daughter of Mikhail Chekhov, the nephew of famed Russian playwright Anton Chekhov. From the mid-1950s to the mid-1990s, Vera starred in over 50 films and television shows, showcasing her versatility and talent. In 1962, she received the prestigious German Film Award for her role in the movie "Das Brot der frühen Jahre."

Connection to Elvis Presley

During Elvis Presley's military service in Germany in 1959, Vera became his companion. Their relationship garnered significant public attention, particularly due to their joint promotion of the oral polio vaccine (OPV).
