Early Life and Political Activism

Викторио Codovilla was born on February 8, 1894, in the village of Ottobiano, Italy, to a humble family of small business owners. He attended a commercial school and joined the Socialist Party of Italy in 1911.

Emigration to Argentina and Founding of the Communist Party

In 1912, facing persecution for his revolutionary activities, Codovilla emigrated to Argentina. He became a member of the Socialist Party of Argentina and quickly emerged as a leader of its left wing.

Codovilla played a pivotal role in establishing the Communist Party of Argentina in 1918. He became a member of the party's Central Committee and Executive Committee from its inception.

Leadership of the Communist Party

In 1963, Codovilla was elected Chairman of the Communist Party of Argentina. He served in this position until his death.

Throughout his political career, Codovilla faced numerous imprisonments and exiles for his revolutionary activities. However, he remained a steadfast advocate for communism and the rights of the working class.

Recognition and Legacy

In 1969, Codovilla was awarded the Order of the October Revolution, a prestigious Soviet honor. He died on April 15, 1970, in Moscow.
