Czech Viola Virtuoso
Early Life and EducationVladimír Říha was born in Czechoslovakia and pursued viola studies at the Prague Conservatory. He became a respected alumnus and subsequently returned to the conservatory as a revered professor. Among his notable pupils was renowned Czech violist Karel Doležal.
Kvartet Ondříček
As a young student in 1921, Říha joined the prestigious Kvartet Ondříček. He remained a cornerstone of this renowned ensemble until its disbandment in 1958, serving as an instrumental pillar throughout its illustrious history.

Říha's artistry extended beyond the concert hall into the recording studio. Most notably, he captured Paul Wranitzky's Concerto for Viola and Orchestra, with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Karel Ančerl.
