Vitaly Antonov: A Leading Ukrainian Entrepreneur and Business Executive

Education and Early Career

Vitaly Antonov was born in 1957 in Stryi, Ukraine. He completed his secondary education at Stryi Secondary School No. 4 and went on to graduate with honors from the Ternopil Financial and Economic Institute in 1988, majoring in Finance and Credit. In 2011, he earned his PhD in Economics from the same institution, focusing on attracting foreign direct investment to Ukraine.

Business Ventures and OKKO Group

Antonov's entrepreneurial journey began in 1992 when he established the private enterprise "Karat," which specialized in wholesale trade. He later expanded into the petroleum products market, becoming president of the joint-stock company "Galnaftogaz" in 1995 and chairman of its Supervisory Board in 2001.

In 1999, Antonov launched the first gas station under the OKKO brand in Stryi. The company quickly grew, opening its first large-scale complex in Lviv in 2000, featuring a convenience store, cafe, and automated car wash. OKKO's modern concept became an industry standard.

Corporate Leadership and Accolades

Throughout his career, Antonov held leadership roles in various companies. He served as president of the "Universal Investment Group" from 2004 to 2009 and became a member of the Supervisory Board of "Concern Khlebprom" in 2006. From 2008 onwards, he担任保险公司"Universal"的监事会主席。

Antonov's exceptional leadership skills were widely recognized. He was ranked among the top 100 managers in Ukraine's oil and gas sector from 2010 to 2012 by InvestGazeta and Ekonomik. In 2011, he was among the top three managers nationally and received the "Best Sales and Marketing Manager" award in 2012. He was also ranked third in the national "Responsible Leader" rating in 2012.

Recognition and Influence

In 2013, Antonov was listed among the 100 most influential people in Ukraine by Korrespondent magazine. The following year, he was named the top manager in Ukraine by Companion magazine and entered Focus magazine's list of the most influential people in the country.

Delo.UA ranked Antonov as one of the 10 Ukrainian business leaders with the highest reputation in 2015. Focus magazine included him among the top 3 managers in the "Retail" segment in 2018. That same year, Delo.UA named him the best CEO based on expert opinion and ranked him 38th overall in its "Top 300 Ukrainian Managers" list.

Other Activities and Distinctions

Beyond his business pursuits, Antonov has been active in various social and civic initiatives. Since 1999, he has served as honorary consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Lviv and has been the General Honorary Consul since 2007.

He is a co-founder of the Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian-Lithuanian Fund and believes that Lithuania's experience in transitioning from a post-totalitarian society to a free and open one is invaluable for Ukraine.

Antonov is a candidate master of sports in mountain climbing and rock climbing and has received numerous awards, including the Order of Merit of Ukraine, III degree, the Lithuanian government's Order of the Lithuanian Millennium Star, and the Order of the Nativity of Christ from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate).

Personal Life

Vitaly Antonov is divorced and has three children: two daughters born in 1985 and 1993, and a son born in 2003.
