Early Life and Education
Viktor Tarasov was born in Leningrad, USSR, in 1952. He initially pursued astronomy at Leningrad State University for four years before enrolling in the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music, and Cinematography (LGITMiK).
Theatre and Film Career in the USSR
Upon graduating from LGITMiK, Tarasov joined the Leningrad Lenin Komsomol Theatre and the V. F. Komissarzhevskaya Academic Drama Theatre. He made his film debut in the 1980s, appearing in films such as "Malakhov" and "Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson."
Immigration to the US and Career Resurgence
In 1991, Tarasov moved permanently to the United States. After a brief hiatus, he returned to acting with a memorable role as Valery in HBO's "The Sopranos" (2001). He continued to appear in films like "Pieces of April" (2003) and "Rockaway" (2007), and in television shows such as "Law & Order" (2000) and "CSI: NY" (2004).
Voice Acting and Video Game Appearances
Tarasov also lent his voice to the character of Ray Bulgarin in the video game "GTA IV" (2008) and its expansion "The Ballad of Gay Tony" (2009).
Recent Work
In recent years, Tarasov has continued to act in film and television. He portrayed the new President of Russia in "Salt" (2010) and appeared in episodes of popular shows like "The Americans" and "Madam Secretary."
