Early Life and Career

Born on October 4, 1973, in Torez, Ukraine, Vitaliy Kropyachev is a self-made businessman. His primary business venture, the "Ukrdoinvest" group of companies, focuses on coal mining and gas extraction. He has also diversified his portfolio into manufacturing, construction, transportation, and media, notably owning the production company "Era Production."

Political Involvement

In 2010, Kropyachev entered politics as a deputy in the Donetsk Oblast Council. In 2011, he faced an assassination attempt, which he attributed to associates of then-president Viktor Yanukovych's son, Oleksandr.

Role in the War in Donbas

In 2014, amidst the conflict in eastern Ukraine, Kropyachev co-founded the "Shakhtersk" battalion with prominent figures including Oleg Lyashko, Anton Gerashchenko, and Arsen Avakov.

Partnership with Sany Heavy Industries

In 2017, Kropyachev forged a strategic partnership with Chinese construction equipment manufacturer Sany Heavy Industries. This collaboration has resulted in successful tenders for state-owned coal mines, challenging the dominance of Rinat Akhmetov's Corum. Kropyachev expressed his intention to establish production of Sany's tunneling equipment in Ukraine.

Acquisition of Media Assets

In 2019, Kropyachev expanded his business empire into the media landscape by acquiring three local television channels: Info 24, TBi, and Pogoda.

Financial Success and Recognition

Kropyachev's business acumen earned him a place on the list of Ukraine's richest individuals in 2019, with an estimated net worth of $101 million (63rd rank). However, his assets value declined in 2020, resulting in a 96th position, and he exited the top 100 list in 2021.
