Vivian Campbell is an Irish rock guitarist and a member of the band Def Leppard. He was born on August 25, 1962, in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Campbell started playing the guitar at the age of twelve and has since been inseparable from the instrument. He prioritized his musical career over his education, choosing to pursue a path in music.

Early Career

At the age of fifteen, Campbell was invited to join the band Sweet Savage. In 1980, the group released their first single, followed by four more songs the following year. Despite their success, Campbell left Sweet Savage in early 1983 and joined the band Dio. The new team warmly welcomed Campbell, and they had a successful collaboration for three years.

Whitesnake and Dio

In 1986, Campbell joined the British heavy rock band Whitesnake. For several years, he performed with Dio and Whitesnake, captivating audiences through television, radio, and world tours. In 1992, Campbell replaced the late Steve Clark in the rock group Def Leppard. He made his debut with the band at a club in Dublin and has been a part of Def Leppard for the past sixteen years.
