Early Life and Acting Career
Vladimir Shchegolkov was born on July 2, 1972. His passion for cinema began at a young age, and he wrote his first captivating stories in grade school. After graduating high school, he pursued his dream of becoming an actor at the prestigious Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in Moscow. He graduated with honors in 1995 and joined the renowned "Mosfilm" studio.
Foray into Directing
Shchegolkov's childhood dream of directing persisted, and in 1998, he enrolled in the VGIK's directing program under the tutelage of renowned filmmaker Vadim Abdrashitov. Upon completing his studies, he became a leading director at "Mosfilm."
Directorial Debut and Success
In 2001, Shchegolkov made his directorial debut with the comedy "Happy Birthday, Lola!" which he also wrote the screenplay for. The film received critical acclaim and showcased Shchegolkov's talent for comedic writing and direction.
He followed up with the thrilling "Afera" in which he played a cameo role. His most notable success came with the television series "Moscow. Central District," which explored the complexities of Russian law enforcement. Shchegolkov also appeared in a supporting role as director Osetrov.

After "Viola Tarakanova. In the World of Criminal Passions," Shchegolkov took a brief hiatus before returning with "One Love in a Million" in 2007. The film delves into the turmoil of the 1990s in Russia. Shchegolkov continued his success with the action comedies "Anti-Drug" and "Spartaciade. Local Warming."
