Early Life and Education
Yuriy Alekseyevich Skvortsov, a prominent Soviet and Ukrainian engineer and inventor, was born on April 25, 1939, in the city of Zaporizhzhia. In 1962, he successfully graduated from the Kharkiv Aviation Institute with a degree in Rocket Engine Design and the prestigious title of "Engineer-Mechanic."
Professional Career at KB "Yuzhnoye"
Shortly after graduation, Skvortsov joined KB "Yuzhnoye" as the head of its laboratory, a position he held from 1962 to 1992. During this time, he made significant contributions to the field of rocket and space technology.
Academic Achievements and Leadership
In 1969, Skvortsov earned his Candidate of Technical Sciences degree, and in 1997, he attained the highest academic rank of Doctor of Technical Sciences. From 1997 onwards, he held leadership roles within the Dnipropetrovsk Branch of the National Institute of Strategic Studies (DF NISI), including Head of Department and later First Deputy Director.
Scientific Contributions
Skvortsov's expertise revolves around the design of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and launch vehicles for space satellites. He developed innovative methods for optimizing the characteristics and parameters of these systems, leading to advancements in their design and performance. His contributions are reflected in numerous patents (17 in total) and hundreds of published scientific works.

In 1975, Skvortsov received the prestigious State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR in recognition of his remarkable achievements.
