Political Figure of the Ukrainian SSR

A prominent figure in the political landscape of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, this individual served as a candidate member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1976-1980). They were also a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine (1971-1980), a delegate to three CPSU Congresses (XXII, XXIV, and XXV) and three Communist Party of Ukraine Congresses (XXIII, XXIV, and XXV). Furthermore, they were elected to the Supreme Soviet of the USSR (9th convocation) and the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR (7th and 8th convocations).

Patriotic Service in World War II

With the onset of the Great Patriotic War, the individual evacuated to Stalingrad, where they worked as a locksmith in the "Krasny Oktyabr" metallurgical plant from December 1941 to September 1942. Subsequently, they joined the Red Army in September 1942. After initial training in Nizhny Tagil, they were assigned to the 3rd Tank Brigade of the 23rd Tank Corps under General E.G. Pushkin. They participated in battles on the Southwestern, 2nd, and 3rd Ukrainian Fronts, notably contributing to the liberation of Nikolaev in March 1944. Their valiant efforts extended to the liberation of Romania, Hungary, and Austria. In recognition of their unwavering commitment, they became a member of the Communist Party in 1944.

Post-War Career and Party Leadership

Upon demobilization in 1947, the individual returned to civilian life and worked as a fitter-assembler at the 61 Communar Plant. Their thirst for knowledge led them to enroll at the Nikolaev Shipbuilding Institute (1947-1953), where they specialized in mechanical engineering and earned a coveted Stalin Scholarship.

After graduating, they embarked on a successful political career. From 1953, they held various party positions, including head of the Nikolayev City Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine, second and later first secretary of the district committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine (Nikolayev). Their leadership culminated in their appointment as first secretary of the Nikolayev City Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine from 1961.

Regional Leadership and Legacy

From January 1963 to December 1964, the individual served as second secretary of the Nikolaev Industrial Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine. They continued their ascent within the party hierarchy, becoming second secretary of the Nikolaev Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine in 1965 and a member of the Central Auditing Commission of the Communist Party of Ukraine from 1966 to 1971.

Their most significant political role came from March 1971 to October 4, 1980, when they were appointed first secretary of the Nikolaev Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine. In this capacity, they oversaw various infrastructure projects and played a key role in the establishment of the monument to the Steel Soldier on the Mound of Glory in Nova Odesa. Additionally, they initiated the establishment of a branch of the Union of Artists in Nikolaev.

In recognition of their contributions, a street in Nikolaev City and a gas turbine ship are named in their honor. Their legacy continues to inspire generations in the region they served.
