Childhood and Early Education

Born in Kazan, Russia, Vlad Bystrov's musical journey began at a young age. He studied clarinet at a music school, continuing his education at music colleges in Kazan and Leningrad.

Military Service and Musical Expansion

During his mandatory military service in the Severomorsk Song and Dance Ensemble (1986-1988), Bystrov mastered the saxophone, expanding his musical repertoire.

Musical Career in Russia

Upon his return to Leningrad, Bystrov pursued his education at the Leningrad State University of Culture and Arts, studying both clarinet and saxophone. He simultaneously performed with various ensembles, including the dance orchestra led by I. E. Atlas, the Leningrad Concert Orchestra under A. Badkhen, V. Ponarovsky's Big Band, and A. Bolshinov's saxophone quartet.

Move to Germany and Musical Endeavors

In the early 1990s, Bystrov relocated to Braunschweig, Germany. In 1997, he established the "Neue Musik" private music school, where he continues to teach. He has held positions as musical director of the Braunschweig State Youth Theater (1997-1999) and as a clarinet and saxophone professor at Braunschweig University (since 1999). Since 2004, Bystrov has served as artistic director of the "Neue Nacht" festival, an international forum for electro-acoustic music and media art.

Artistic Style and Performance

Bystrov's musical style is characterized by its eclecticism and improvisational nature. He prefers intimate settings, such as the St. Petersburg Saxophone Quartet, duets with musicians from around the globe, and performances of classical chamber music. Although self-sufficient as a performer, he has collaborated with the Kazan Chamber Orchestra "La Primavera" on works specifically written for him.

Innovative Approach and Live Electronics

Bystrov's unique approach involves the use of various musical instruments, including woodwind flutes, duduk, ocarinas, keyboards, saxophones, clarinets, and more. He incorporates live electronics and computer-based tools to enhance his musical expression, creating an innovative and immersive experience for audiences.
