In May 2007, tragedy struck when a fire broke out in Solomon's apartment. The authorities determined that the fire was caused by faulty electrical wiring in the attic. Although Solomon was unharmed, her beloved pet dog perished in the fire.

By the end of 2007, Solomon had firmly established herself as a global star with the release of her new album. Her final composition on "American Idol," titled "Best Of My Love," topped the prestigious American charts for several weeks.
