Beginnings
In the year 1995, amidst the vibrant campus of the Togliatti Polytechnic College, a young man named Andrei sparked the genesis of a musical odyssey that would ultimately give rise to the acclaimed rock band, A. Inspired by the rhythmic pulse of underground street performances, the fledgling group embarked on a journey that would forever transform the musical landscape of their city.
Formation and Evolution
As the group's aspirations grew, a cohesive ensemble emerged: Andrei Shirikov on lead guitar, Dmitry Zilpert on rhythm guitar, Ilya Selivanov on bass, Alexander Shcherbakov on drums, and Sergei Adamov on vocals. Donning the moniker "Protivostoyanie," they graced the stages of "Tretyakovka" and "Zhelty Veter," captivating audiences with their energetic performances. However, as time progressed, artistic differences and the presence of multiple leaders led to a split, giving birth to two distinct bands: Vremya Z and Protivostoyanie.
Birth of Vremya Z
With an unwavering determination, Shirikov assembled a new lineup that included Denis Mikhalin on keyboards, Alexander Pervushkin on bass, and Andrei "Zombie" Shcherbakov on drums. The year 1998 marked the official inception of Vremya Z, a project that quickly gained momentum. Their electrifying live performances earned them a coveted prize at the prestigious All-Russian festival "Studencheskaya Vesna," where they left an indelible mark on music industry giants like Mark Minkov, Larisa Golubkina, and Arkady Viner.
Ups and Downs
The following year, Vremya Z soared to greater heights, garnering a loyal fanbase that eagerly anticipated their sold-out concert. However, fate had a cruel twist in store. In an unexpected turn of events, the band's bassist and drummer were dismissed just an hour before the highly anticipated performance due to intoxication. Shirikov's unwavering commitment to sobriety led to this sudden shake-up, leaving the band in desperate need of new members.
Renewal and Resilience
Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Vremya Z welcomed Ruslan Khadiyatullin as their new bass-guitarist, who, after a brief audition, showcased his exceptional guitar skills and was promoted to rhythm guitarist. Khadiyatullin, in turn, introduced the talented drummer Valery Evdokimov, and Artem Avlasevich was drafted as their bass-guitarist. On September 11, 1999, the newly forged lineup convened for their first rehearsal. Within two short months, they had crafted an impressive repertoire, making their live debut alongside the renowned metal band Korroziya Metalla.
Success and Recognition
In 2000, Vremya Z embarked on the creation of their debut album, "Vremya Z," a testament to their collective musical prowess. The album was a collaborative effort with the DKiT VAZ, further solidifying their presence in the local rock scene. The band's influence extended beyond their music, as they partnered with the SK Cultural Center to organize the renowned "Drugaya Muzyka" festival, a platform that showcased a diverse array of musical acts.
Further Changes
In 2001, Avlasevich departed from the band, leaving Khadiyatullin to assume the role of bass-guitarist. Vremya Z continued to make waves, performing to packed crowds at the legendary Samara rock bar "Podval" and receiving invitations from both near and far to share their music with the world. Amidst these triumphs, drummer Valery Evdokimov relocated, prompting the return of Andrei "Zombie" Shcherbakov to the fold.
Collaboration and Evolution
Early in 2002, Vremya Z embarked on a collaborative project with Sergei Lyuboslavsky, the vocalist of "Taverna Blues." Together, they crafted two captivating compositions, "Biker Blues" and "Chernoknizhnik," showcasing the band's versatility and boundless creativity. As their musical journey continues, Vremya Z remains a force to be reckoned with in the ever-evolving world of rock music.
