Vyacheslav Bukur: A Literary Journey

Vyacheslav Bukur was born on February 28th, 1952, in Gubakha, Perm Oblast. His family later moved to Kyivka, a district center in Kazakhstan.

Medical Beginnings

Bukur enrolled in the medical faculty of the Karaganda Medical Institute in 1969. However, he left in 1972 and worked as a morgue attendant in Temirtau, Kazakhstan.

Transition to Literature

In 1974, Bukur moved to Perm and enrolled in the Faculty of Philology at Perm University. Graduating in 1980, he became an editor at the Perm Book Publishing House. Bukur joined the Communist Party in 1976 and remained a member until 1989.

Literary Collaborations

After his dismissal from the publishing house due to his criticism of the Strugatsky brothers' works, Bukur worked as a Hebrew teacher and a janitor from 1984 to 1994. He began writing as a science fiction author and published his work in regional journals like "Uralsky Sledopyt" and "Poisk." His distinctive writing style was recognized by renowned science fiction author Sever Gansovsky in his 1975 article "Doskok."

Collaborative Partnership

From the mid-1980s, Bukur collaborated with his wife, N.V. Gorlanova. Together, they continued to produce literary works, leaving a lasting impact on the literary landscape.
