For several years, Wade, an attractive young man with a great body, worked as a go-go dancer in nightclubs. He also worked as a clothing salesman at the Beverly Center Mall, where a professional photographer noticed him and offered him a chance to try his luck in the modeling industry. Shortly after, Wade moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue an acting career. He started by taking acting classes with actress Jeannie Berlin, who was nominated for an Oscar in 1973 as Best Supporting Actress. Jeannie's mother, the renowned Elaine May, an actress, film director, and screenwriter, was impressed by Wade's work in class and enthusiastically recommended him.
