Biography of Wei Jianjun

Wei Jianjun is a 49-year-old Chinese businessman who is married and holds the 9th and 16th positions on two different lists of the richest people in China. He also ranks 229th on Forbes' list of billionaires. As the chairman of the executive board of Great Wall Motors, a leading automobile giant, Wei has established himself as a prominent figure in the business world.

As of March 2013, Forbes estimated Wei Jianjun and his family's combined wealth to be worth $5.3 billion. This substantial fortune resulted from the rapid increase in the stock prices of Great Wall Motors, one of the largest private automobile companies in China. In 2012, the company's net profit grew by 66% to $934 million, while sales increased by 43% to reach $7.1 billion.

Founded in 1984, Great Wall Motors currently operates 10 factories outside of China and sells its vehicles in over 100 countries. With a workforce of 48,000 employees, the company has achieved notable success in the SUV market and was included in Forbes Asia's Fab 50, a list of the best large companies in the Asian region.

Wei Jianjun completed his college education in Hebei Province, specializing in corporate management. Prior to joining Great Wall Motors, he worked in carpet and water pump factories.
