The Tragic Accident
Chinese man Yang Jianbin was severely disfigured in a tragic electrical accident that left his face virtually destroyed.
A Glimmer of Hope
Despite the devastating consequences, doctors at a local military hospital proposed an innovative solution: they would attempt to grow Jianbin a new face on his body.
Elaborate Reconstruction
The complex procedure began six months prior, with surgeons meticulously stretching the skin on Jianbin's left chest. Once it had reached the desired length, they would use it to reconstruct his facial features.
Five-Stage Process
The face reconstruction was divided into five stages:
1. Using stretched skin and rib cartilage to create a new nose
2. Developing new blood vessels and arteries
3. Transplanting the face onto Jianbin's head
4. Refining facial features through multiple surgeries
5. Fully completing the face formation
Medical Breakthrough
The technique employed is not entirely new. In 2021, Chinese doctors successfully performed a similar procedure on 17-year-old Xu Jianmei, who had been disfigured by fire. The complex operation, completed free of charge, allowed Jianmei to smile once again.
Hopeful Outlook
With the technology now fairly well-established, Jianbin's chances of success are high. If all goes according to plan, he will regain a human-like face, albeit one that will bear the traces of his tragic accident.
