Biography of Yeojin Bae

Yeojin Bae is an Australian fashion designer originally from Korea. She was born in Korea and later obtained Australian citizenship. At the age of fifteen, Yeojin became the youngest student at the Melbourne Whitehouse Institute of Design, where she graduated in 1992. She then began working with renowned Australian designer Jodie Boffa. After several successful years and gaining valuable experience, Yeojin traveled to New York to further enhance her talent. She interned with designers such as Marc Jacobs, Anna Sui, and Robert Danes.

Upon returning to Australia in 1996, Yeojin worked as the head designer for Charlie Brown, expanding her abilities and being involved with multiple brands including 'Charlie Brown', 'Princess Charlotte', and 'Lili'. In 2002, Yeojin caught the attention of Daniel Besen and subsequently led the creation of women's clothing for 'SABA' in Melbourne, infusing her unique style into the brand. She demonstrated her talents by developing six new collections, which resulted in significant growth in all aspects of the business.

In 2006, Yeojin launched her own label, 'Yeojin Bae'. Her clients were particularly drawn to the delicate sensuality and timeless classicism exuded by her clothing. Her debut collection, titled 'Sweet Seduction', quickly led to deals to sell her line in prestigious stores worldwide. In 2008, Yeojin opened her first retail location, a specially converted loft space in Prahran, a suburb of Melbourne. Here, she could showcase her more personal and intimate creations without compromising her own taste.

Yeojin's talent and success were recognized with numerous awards and accolades. In March 2007, she was named 'Designer of the Year' by Tiffany & Co Young Designer in Australia. She was also acknowledged by Marie Claire magazine, being included in their 'One to Watch' list in 2009. The Sunday Times, a British newspaper, selected Yeojin as the sole Australian candidate to feature in an international list of boutique fashion brands. Her work has been featured in publications such as Vogue and Harper's Bazaar in the UK, Elle in the US, Harper's Bazaar in Dubai, and Vogue in Australia and Russia.

Yeojin's target audience is the intellectual, confident, and independent woman, and she consistently embodies this fashion philosophy in each of her collections. Her passion for vintage prints, strong sense of color, and intricate detailing set her apart in the market among other female designers. Yeojin's personality is characterized by her emotional sensitivity, perfectionist persistence, and dedication to craftsmanship.

In March 2011, Yeojin showcased her fashion show, 'Fashion Tableau', at the closing day of the Alliance Francaise French Film Festival in Australia.
