Early Life and Education
Born in the former Soviet Union, Shamalova-Berkovich immigrated to Israel in 1979 with her parents. She graduated from Jerusalem's Rene Cassin School and pursued a degree in social sciences, social psychology, and anthropology from Tel Aviv University. Later, she earned an MBA from the Rachmanot School of Management at Tel Aviv University.
Career in Journalism
Shamalova-Berkovich began her career in Israeli media in 1988, working for various newspapers. In 1992, she became the marketing director and then the CEO of the newspaper "Vesti," which she transformed into one of Israel's largest and most influential Russian-language newspapers.
Television and Business Ventures
In 2001, Shamalova-Berkovich became the head of the Israeli television channel "Israel Plus." From 2004, she actively pursued business ventures and civic activities. She was involved in the World Zionist Congress, the Association of Israeli Entrepreneurs, and various corporate boards.
Political Activism and Election to the Knesset
A fervent Zionist, Shamalova-Berkovich joined the Kadima movement led by Ariel Sharon. In 2009, she became a member of the 18th Knesset, where she advocated for policies to support immigrants and strengthen Israel's economy and education system.

Shamalova-Berkovich is married to Yehezkel Berkovich, an economist. They have two children.
