Yuri Chernovus: A Journey of Public Service

Early Life and Education

Yuri Vasilyevich Chernovus was born on July 12, 1978, in Voronezh. By the time of his birth, his family had moved to Moscow. In 1982, they relocated to the northern outpost of Tiksi, returning to Strogino in 1986. Chernovus attended Gymnasium No. 1519 in Strogino and later graduated from the Russian State Social University in 2001 with degrees in social pedagogy and psychology. In 2018, he obtained a law degree from Vladimir State University.

Foundations of Public Service

Chernovus's civic involvement began in 1993, when he met Deputy of the Moscow Duma E.B. Balashov and social activist S.V. Volkova. Under their tutelage, he joined the "Youth Organization 'Prospekt Mira'" and began extensive volunteer work. He focused on HIV/AIDS prevention among adolescents and assisted in identifying and rehabilitating children in challenging life situations.

Leadership in Youth Rehabilitation

By age 19, Chernovus became Director of "Prospekt Mira" and organized the first camp for at-risk youth. His efforts led to the establishment of "Children of the Streets," a Moscow city agency dedicated to preventing homelessness and juvenile delinquency. As its Director in three different districts, Chernovus oversaw numerous rehabilitation programs.

Expansion of Youth Initiatives

In 2014-2015, Chernovus launched the "Clean Bay" Youth Forum, which fostered environmental awareness among active youth in the Northwest District of Moscow. In 2015, he established the "I Love Strogino" Movement to protect citizens' rights.

National Reach

In 2019, "I Love Strogino" expanded into the national "I Love Russia" movement. Chernovus has also been elected to the Moscow Local Government (since 1999) and served as the Head of the Intracity Municipal Formation of Strogino. He has spearheaded youth-oriented projects in Moscow, Vologda, Penza, and Ulyanovsk.

Current Activities

Today, Chernovus is a State Secretary, politician, and trainer for special projects at the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs ("Rosmolodezh") and the State Corporation for Atomic Energy ("Rosatom"). He serves as the Founder of the All-Russian Public Association "I Love Russia."
