Childhood and Early Life
Yuri Kormushin was born into an ordinary Soviet family in the city of Donetsk. From a young age, he was accustomed to strict discipline, with no free time left after lessons, homework, and sports training. According to his mother, Anna Maksimova, Yuri's passion for sports and healthy living was instilled in him by his grandfather.
At the age of 11, he enrolled in the Dynamo sports school, attending judo and sambo training, later mastering boxing and karate. The young boy had a packed schedule. He would start his day at seven in the morning with swimming, followed by school, music lessons, and then training. After completing his homework, he would finally go to bed.
At music school, Yuri learned to play the trumpet and piano, which remained hobbies throughout his life.
Martial Arts Accomplishments
Beyond his proficiency in sambo, judo, boxing, karate, taekwondo, kung fu, and Slavic-Goritsky wrestling, Yuri Kormushin has achieved a multitude of other sports-related feats. His 177 cm height, average weight, and natural agility allowed him to excel in various Eastern practices.
Yuri graduated from the Academie du kung fu Wing Chun Traditionnel in Paris. He later mastered the qinna system and trained at the Brazilian jiu-jitsu school of Anselmo Montenegro. Kormushin further honed his fighting skills through seminars in the Israeli Krav Maga system.
Based on the knowledge and skills acquired throughout his athletic career and continuous improvement, Kormushin developed his own set of training programs for hand-to-hand combat for various audiences. For almost 30 years, he has shared his expertise with experienced fighters and beginners, conducting self-defense classes, attending training sessions and seminars, and establishing a school in Moscow where he personally leads classes.
Online, one can find not only photos but also Yuri's own courses on Wing Chun martial art, as well as specialized programs for bodyguards, security personnel, and everyday citizens. Kormushin has published a book, "How to Save Your Life and Your Wallet," which quickly became a bestseller. This manual provides practical advice on self-defense and how to handle extraordinary situations, including physical attacks and threats to life from criminals and other dangerous elements.
Despite his lack of championship titles, Yuri Kormushin has gained recognition among an audience seeking comprehensive guidance on self-defense combat techniques.
Film and Creative Career
Yuri Kormushin is a charismatic actor whose performances have graced the screens of major television networks. In one interview, the artist confessed to having received an offer from Hollywood, which he turned down due to the plot.
In his youth, Kormushin pursued a musical future and enrolled in the Academy of Culture and Arts in St. Petersburg, graduating with success. However, the post-Soviet era presented challenges in securing music industry jobs in both Ukraine and Russia.
Driven by artistic nature and determination, Kormushin recognized his potential beyond playing in clubs and restaurants. He yearned to grow, to conquer new horizons in both art and sports. Seeking suitable career opportunities, he relocated to Warsaw, where he studied at the Obiektyw theater studio while continuing his martial arts training. This was followed by collaborations with international directors and screenwriters.
After a few years, Yuri decided to return to his homeland. Initially, his mother, who worked at a local television channel, helped him land a job as a music editor. News in the journalistic community spreads quickly, and Yuri's expertise in martial arts soon came to light, leading to an invitation to host a program on self-defense.
The next significant milestone was the 1998 program "Ether 2048" under the direction of producer Andriyenkov. From this point onward, Yuri Kormushin flourished as a music editor, journalist, and television host, contributing to a wide range of television programs from entertainment to news.
Present Career
Yuri Kormushin resides in Moscow, working as a television host on the REN-TV channel's program "School of Survival." He also appears in films and television series. Initially invited to stage fight scenes, his acting talent was soon recognized, and he began landing lead roles in Russian productions.
In 2005, Kormushin starred in the documentary "Path to the East." Three years later, he made his feature film debut in the crime series "Duel." The success of this first on-screen experience paved the way for a role in the series "Wedding Ring." In this popular multi-season series, Kormushin transforms into a lawyer.
The year 2010 saw Kormushin's filmography expand with the action film "Joker," starring Dmitry Klepatsky and Oleg Shklovsky. He would later reprise his role in subsequent parts of the series - "Joker. Retribution" and "Joker-2. Operation: Trap."
Yuri Kormushin's exceptional acting abilities caught the attention of directors. In the action film "Shooter," he played the Arab character Abu Jalid, while in the series "Married Couples-2," he portrayed a Frenchman. In the detective series "Chess Player's Syndrome," Kormushin landed the lead role of a history teacher who is also a master of martial arts. Other notable roles include those in the films "Rules of the Hunt. Renegade" and "Rules of the Hunt. Storm."
Beyond his passion for martial arts and acting, Yuri Kormushin has also showcased his culinary skills. With his participation, REN-TV broadcast the culinary entertainment program "Dinner Party."
Personal Life
The multifaceted artist and martial artist prefers to keep details of his personal life private. It is only known that Yuri Kormushin remains unmarried, has no children, and dedicates all his spare time to creativity and his beloved hobby - honing his self-defense and combat techniques in various martial arts.
Current Activities
Yuri's creative endeavors continue unabated. The actor stars in the new project "A New Life," where he appears alongside Maria Efremova and Andrei Noskov. Kormushin's character, Sergei Palych Dvoretsky, is a psychology professor conducting an experiment. Using a young woman who has lost her memory, the scientist aims to prove that age perception is subjective. Yuri Kormushin convinced the film's creators that he was the best fit for the role.
In the summer of 2018, Kormushin launched a personal Instagram profile. For now, only one photo appears on the page, where the actor plans to share news, announcements for cinematic and sporting events.
