Biography of Yuri Sokolov

Theater Actor at the Simonovsky Court

Yuri Sokolov is a well-known theater actor who currently works at the Mayakovsky Theater in Moscow. He has been serving at the theater for more than thirty years, alongside his two former wives Elena Kozlitina and Olga Prokofieva, who are also actresses. Sokolov has made a name for himself in the theater community in Moscow and has also appeared in several movies, including the role of Prince Shuisky in the film "Tsar" and the ongoing TV series "Institute of Noble Maidens" broadcasted on the "Russia" TV channel.

A Controversial Lawsuit and Family Matters

Sokolov's personal life has recently been under public scrutiny due to a lawsuit he filed against his ex-wife and fellow theater colleague Olga Prokofieva. The couple, who were married for twelve years, share a two-bedroom apartment on Varshavskoye Shosse. Prokofieva, known for her role as Zhanna Arkadyevna in the TV series "My Beautiful Nanny," has voiced her concerns in the press, claiming that Sokolov wants to unjustly take away their son Sasha's home. Sokolov, who now has a different family with two young children, had remained silent until recently when he decided to reveal the reasons behind the scandalous lawsuit.

A Complicated Family Situation

Sokolov's current wife, Natalia, is also an actress and is 23 years younger than him. She used to work at the Vernadsky Theater before entering maternity leave to take care of their two young children and raise Natalia's older child from a previous marriage. The Sokolov family currently resides in a small and cramped apartment, where they all share one room serving as a kitchen, living room, and bedroom.

The Property Dispute

The issue of the apartment on Varshavskoye Shosse arose after Sokolov and Prokofieva divorced in 2000 when their son Sasha was eight years old. Sokolov initially left the apartment to Prokofieva, leading to the current dispute. Despite Sokolov's request to receive the car and a gold bracelet with sentimental value from his father, Prokofieva refused to give them to him. The apartment itself was initially Sokolov's one-room apartment, which he exchanged with Prokofieva's sister's three-room apartment in Odintsovo, a suburb of Moscow. Prokofieva insisted on becoming the responsible tenant for the apartment on Varshavskoye Shosse and also registered their eight-acre plot of land near the village of Zhavoronki in her name.

A Failed Attempt at a Resolution

Sokolov's current wife, Natalia, had a separate housing issue when she wanted to exchange apartments with her father. However, her father insisted that the new apartment be registered in their son Vitalik's name. Sokolov hoped to obtain a new apartment for his new family through the theater and had no intention of taking legal action against Prokofieva. However, after years of waiting and failed negotiations, Sokolov decided to file a lawsuit.

The Unfortunate Outcome

During the legal proceedings, it was discovered that Prokofieva had been provided with a luxurious apartment worth approximately one million dollars in the elite "Dream Valley" complex in Krylatskoye. She only paid a subsidized price of 4.5 million rubles, and the Department of Culture covered the remaining amount. Prokofieva did not register herself at the new apartment, allowing her to potentially keep both properties.

The Relationship with His Son

Sokolov has been unable to reach his son Sasha, suspecting that Prokofieva may have influenced him against him. He hopes that by addressing his son through the press, he can clarify the situation and rebuild their friendship. Sokolov is aware that Sasha is currently studying acting at the Russian Academy of Theater Arts (RATI) and hopes that their bond can be restored, as they used to share secrets and Sasha would often tell his father about Prokofieva's new partner, fellow actor Vitaly Grebenikov.
