Yuri Vlasenko: A Distinguished Trumpeter and Educator
Early Life and EducationYuri Vlasenko was born in Ukraine and began his musical studies at the Cherkasy Musical College, graduating in 1983. He further pursued his trumpet education at the prestigious Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, under the tutelage of renowned trumpet pedagogue Professor Yuri Usov.
Professional Career
Vlasenko's professional career took off after his graduation from the Moscow Conservatory in 1988. He became a soloist with the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia named after Svetlanov and the Moscow Academic Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Pavel Kogan.
Teaching and Honors
In addition to his performance career, Vlasenko was also a dedicated music educator. He joined the faculty of the Moscow Conservatory in 1999 and was promoted to Associate Professor of Brass Instruments in 2007. In recognition of his contributions to music, he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation in 1999.
International Recognition
Vlasenko's talent gained international recognition through his success in the International Brass Quintet Competition in Barcs, Hungary, where he received a diploma in 1984. He also earned a second prize at the All-Union Competition for Performers on Brass Wind and Percussion Instruments in Minsk, Belarus, in 1988.
Legacy
Yuri Vlasenko passed away suddenly on April 3, 2012, leaving behind a legacy as an exceptional trumpeter and educator. He played a significant role in the development of brass pedagogy in Russia and inspired countless students to pursue careers in music.
