Biography of Yuri Kazaryan
Yuri Oganesovich Kazaryan (Armenian: Յուրի Օգանեսի Ղազարյան) was a political and state figure in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR). He was born on February 9, 1953, in Stepanakert, NKR. Kazaryan had a successful career in politics and government, holding various positions throughout his life.
Education
Kazaryan completed his studies with honors at the Construction Technical School of Kajaran in 1985. Later, in 1990, he graduated from the Mathematics Faculty of the Stepanakert Pedagogical Institute.
Early Career
From 1973 to 1975, Kazaryan served in the Soviet Army. Following his military service, he worked in various construction organizations in Nagorno-Karabakh from 1976 to 1992, holding important positions.
Political and Government Positions
In 1992, Kazaryan was appointed as the Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the State Defense Committee (GKO) in the Askeran region of NKR. From 1993 to 1994, he served as the head of the Shushi district administration.
From 1994 to 1995, Kazaryan held the position of Deputy Commander of the NKR Defense Army, responsible for construction. He then served as the Deputy Prime Minister of NKR from 1995 to 1996.
In 1996, Kazaryan became the mayor of Stepanakert, a position he held until 1999. He returned to the NKR Defense Army from 1999 to 2002, serving as the Deputy Commander in charge of construction. He held the rank of colonel during his military service.
From 2002 to 2004, Kazaryan was appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister of NKR and the Minister of Development of Production Infrastructure and Urban Planning.
