Early Life and Career

Yūzō Koshiro, a renowned Japanese video game composer, began his musical journey at the tender age of three, playing the piano. He also sought guidance from celebrated composer Jō Hisaishi, studying music composition under his tutelage. In 1986, Koshiro joined Nihon Falcom, where he collaborated on the soundtracks for "Xanadu Scenario II" and "Romancia." His most notable works during his tenure with Falcom include the soundtracks for "Sorcerian," "Ys I," and "Ys II."

Freelance Career

After leaving Falcom, Koshiro became a freelance composer, creating music for various companies. His compositions for Sega's "The Revenge of Shinobi" and the "Streets of Rage" trilogy gained widespread recognition. He also composed soundtracks for Quintet's "ActRaiser" and "ActRaiser 2."

Ancient Corp. and Notable Projects

In 1990, Koshiro co-founded Ancient Corp., contributing to several game developments, including "Beyond Oasis." He served as composer and producer for the latter. Recent notable works by Koshiro include soundtracks for "Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune," "Etrian Odyssey," and "Etrian Odyssey 2."

Live Performances and Collaborations

Koshiro's music has been featured in live performances. In 2004, the soundtrack from "ActRaiser" was performed at the Symphonic Game Music Concert in Leipzig, Germany. He participated in the PLAY! A Video Game Symphony tour, arranging the music from "Sonic the Hedgehog" for the 2006 world premiere in Chicago. His arrangement of the "The Revenge of Shinobi" soundtrack was performed at the same concert in 2006 and subsequent performances in Sweden and the Czech Republic.

International Recognition

Koshiro's talents have gained international recognition. He performed as a disc jockey in Singapore in 2007, showcasing his renowned compositions. He arranged music from "New Super Mario Bros." for the Symphonic Game Music Concert in 2007 and interacted with fans during a meet-and-greet session. He also arranged music from Chris Hülsbeck's "Jim Power in Mutant Planet" for a concert in Germany in 2008, where he met with fans after the performances.
