Early Life and Education
Vakhtang Kikabidze was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, on July 19, 1938. He developed a passion for the arts at a young age. In 1976, he graduated from the pedagogical institute in Telavi. He went on to attend the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film University (1981), studying under the acclaimed actor and pedagogue Nusya Managadze.
Acting Career
Kikabidze made his film debut in 1976's "Dvevo zhelaniya" (Tree of Desire). He gained recognition for his role as a shepherd in the 1977 film "Mimino." Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he starred in numerous Georgian and Soviet films, portraying diverse characters such as a musician in "Kukaracha" (1982), a soldier in "Byut - begi!" (Hit - Run!), and the son of Joseph Stalin in "Yakob, syn Stalina" (Jacob, Son of Stalin).
Directing Career
In 1993, Kikabidze transitioned to directing with his feature debut, "Sdelka" (Deal). He later directed the short film "Dva khevsura" (Two Khevsurians) in 2006. His directorial work showcased his understanding of Georgian culture and the human condition.
