Zbigniew Izdebski was born in Poland and received his medical degree from the Military Medical Academy in Lodz in 1966. He went on to pursue advanced degrees in psychiatry, psychotherapy, and sexology, culminating in a doctoral dissertation in 1986.

In 1995, Izdebski became a professor at the Warsaw Academy of Physical Education, where he headed the Department of Psychosocial Foundations of Rehabilitation. He also held the position of President of the Polish Sexological Society.

Izdebski was a renowned author, having published numerous popular books on human sexuality and relationships. He served as an expert in sexual education for the Polish Ministry of National Education (1995-1996) and led the United Nations' sexual education program (1996-1998).
