Early Career

Michael Clapham's football journey began in Australia, where he played for Dandenong Thunder in the Victorian State League. In 2009, he returned to his home country and joined Canterbury United of the New Zealand Football Championship.

Club Career at Canterbury United

Clapham quickly established himself as a key player for Canterbury United. In the 2009-10 season, he was named the New Zealand Football Championship Player of the Year. His performances at club level earned him recognition and regular appearances for the New Zealand national team.

International Career

Clapham made his international debut for New Zealand's youth team at the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup. In 2010, he was called up to the senior national team and made the squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, but did not appear in any matches. Despite his lack of game time for the All Whites, Clapham remained a valuable asset to the squad throughout his career.
