Abasgulu Guliyev
Early Life and EducationAbasgulu Guliyev was born on November 13, 1940, in Razdan, Armenia. He pursued his higher education at the Azerbaijan State University, graduating with a degree in chemistry.
Academic Career
Guliyev embarked on his academic career as a professor at the Azerbaijan Industrial University from 1997 to 2005. He currently serves as the Director of the Institute of Polymer Materials.
Scientific Contributions
Guliyev's groundbreaking research has focused on the reactions of functionalized cyclopropane-containing vinyl monomers. He has established the fundamental principles governing the selectivity and stereospecificity of these reactions.
Guliyev developed a novel method for incorporating pentameric fragments with diverse functional groups into oligomeric and polymeric chains. His work led to a comprehensive understanding of the mechanism of vinylcyclopropane polymerization, supporting the theory of radical rearrangement.
Polymer Development
Guliyev's research has resulted in the development of practical carbon- and heterocyclic polymers. Based on these polymers, he has created innovative photo- and electron resists with enhanced lithographic properties.
Recognition and Awards
Guliyev's contributions to the field of polymer science have earned him recognition as a Corresponding Member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).
