Early Life and Education

Abdulla Avlani was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in 1874. He studied at a school attached to a madrasah.

Leadership in the Jadidist Movement

Avlani was a prominent leader of the Jadidist movement, which advocated for educational and social reforms among Russian Muslims. He played a key role in establishing new-method schools for Uzbek children and wrote textbooks and manuals for these schools.

Contributions to Uzbek Literature and Theater

In 1907, Avlani published the Uzbek-language newspaper "Shukhrat." In 1913, he founded the "Turkestan" theater troupe, one of the first Uzbek theater companies.

Educational Activism in the Soviet Era

During the Soviet period, Avlani continued to be a leading figure in education. He taught, wrote books, and penned plays for the Uzbek theater. Notably, he helped establish an Uzbek-language division at the newly founded Tashkent University.

Legacy and Memorialization

Abdulla Avlani passed away in Tashkent on August 25, 1934. He is buried at the Botkin Cemetery. His former residence in Tashkent has been converted into a memorial room, which was later moved to a high-rise apartment near the "Khamid Olimjon" metro station after the original building was demolished.
