Early Life and EducationArmenian writer Abig Avakyan was born on September 14, 1919, in Tehran, Persia. He received his early education in a local Armenian school, then continued his studies in Persian, French schools, and the American College.
Military Service
In 1939, Avakyan was conscripted into the Iranian army. After completing flight training, he served as a military pilot from 1941 to 1946.
Repatriation and Writing Career
In 1946, Avakyan repatriated to Soviet Armenia. He joined the Union of Writers of the USSR in 1949 and graduated from the Higher Literary Courses in Moscow in 1957.
Literary Accomplishments
