Abulhasan Alekberzade: Azerbaijani Writer and Journalist
Early Life and EducationAbulhasan Alekberzade, a prominent Azerbaijani and Soviet writer and journalist, was born on March 12, 1906 in the village of Baskal in the Shamakhi district. He received his primary education at a four-year Russian-Tatar school in Baskal and later completed a three-month teacher training program. In 1921, he enrolled in the Baku Teachers' Seminary and pursued a career in teaching in Derbent upon graduation. Alekberzade earned a degree from the Baku Pedagogical Institute in 1932.
Literary and Editorial Work
Alekberzade played a significant role in Azerbaijani literature. He served as the editor-in-chief of the Azerbaijani Cinema Committee and held the position of editor-in-chief of the literary magazine "Azerbaijan" on two separate occasions.
Military Service and Literary Recognition
During World War II, Alekberzade joined the military and actively participated in the conflict. His contributions to both warfare and literature led to him being awarded the Order of the Red Banner.
Later Years and Legacy
Abulhasan Alekberzade passed away in Baku in 1986. He left behind a significant literary legacy, including contributions to the fields of short stories, novels, and journalism. His works have been translated into several languages and continue to be widely read in Azerbaijan and beyond.
