Ada Kitting: A Mother's Love
Ada Kitting, a 98-year-old British woman, has settled in a care home with her 80-year-old son in order to care for him. Her son, Tom, moved to the Moss View care home in Huyton, Liverpool in 2016, as he needed additional care and support. After just over a year, his mother decided to move into the same care home to help take care of her eldest son. Ada and Tom, originally from Wavertree, share a close bond and enjoy spending time together playing games and watching their favorite soap opera, "Emmerdale". Ada and Tom have a special relationship, as Tom has never been married and has always lived with his mother. Ada says, "Every evening, I go into Tom's room to wish him goodnight, and I wish him good morning when the day begins. I let him know when I'm getting ready for breakfast, and when I go to the hairdressers, Tom starts to wait for my return. When I come back, my son comes to me, reaches out his arms, and gives me a tight hug... You never stop being a mom." Tom adds, "The people here are so kind. I am so happy to spend more time with my mom, who has settled here. Sometimes she tells me to behave well. She always watches over me."
Family and Career
Ada and her late husband, Harry, had four children - Tom, Barbara, Marjorie, and Janet, who passed away at the age of 13. Before retiring, Ada's eldest son worked as a painter and decorator at the leading British company 'HE Simm', which provides communal services. Ada worked as a junior nurse at Mill Road Hospital. Her granddaughter, Debbie Hayam, and other family members often visit the Moss View care home. The family could not hide their joy when they learned that Ada and Tom were living together again. Debbie said, "They are simply inseparable, and it gives us peace of mind that they both receive 24/7 care."
A Special Bond
Philip Daniels, the manager of Moss View, stated, "It is so touching to see how closely Tom and Ada interact with each other. We are delighted that we have been able to meet their needs. It is extremely rare for mothers and their children to stay in the same care home, and we want to make their time here truly special. Their bond is unbreakable."
