Early Life and Career
Adam Charles Goldberg was born on October 25, 1970, in Santa Monica, California, to Donna (née Goebel) and Earl Goldberg, a former lifeguard. As an adult, Goldberg became non-religious. He resides in Los Angeles with his dog, Digger.
Goldberg's first significant film role was as Eugene Gimbel in the 1992 drama-comedy "Mr. Saturday Night." He gained wider recognition for his portrayal of the hard-nosed infantryman Mellish in Steven Spielberg's 1998 war film, "Saving Private Ryan."
Film and Television Success
Goldberg has appeared in numerous films and television shows, often playing supporting roles. Some of his notable performances include Jerry, the undead servant, in Gregory Widen's horror film "The Prophecy," alongside Christopher Walken; the voice of Flealick in the animated film "Eek! The Cat"; and a recurring character in the HBO series "Entourage."
Goldberg has also written, produced, and directed several films, including "Scotch and Milk" and "Love Your Work," which failed to gain significant commercial success despite featuring a star-studded cast. He also directed the philosophical television adventure "Running with the Bulls" for IFC.
Music Career
As a guitarist and songwriter, Goldberg has written and arranged music for "Love Your Work" and "Running with the Bulls," as well as a song for the soundtrack of "The Hebrew Hammer." He is currently a member of the band LANDy, whose debut album, "Eros and Omissions," was released in 2009.
Notable Appearances
Goldberg made several notable appearances in the popular sitcom "Friends," including as Chandler's eccentric neighbor in season 2 and as Joey's high school best friend, Jimmy, in a season 2 episode of the spin-off "Joey." He also had a leading role in the short-lived series "The Unusuals," where he portrayed a sarcastic New York City detective with brain cancer who refused treatment due to his aversion to doctors.
