President of the Polish Football Federation Resigned
After nearly a decade of leadership, Michał Listkiewicz has resigned as President of the Polish Football Federation (PFF). The move was not unexpected, as Listkiewicz's four-year term had come to an end.
Gzegorz Lato Elected as New PFF President
Following a democratic election, Gzegorz Lato, a former Polish national team footballer, has been elected as the new PFF President. Lato defeated two other candidates, including another former international player, Zbigniew Boniek.
Lato's Vision for the Future
Lato has pledged to foster a united team and resolve outstanding issues with the Polish Ministry of Sports. His ultimate goal is to ensure Poland's successful co-hosting of the UEFA Euro 2012 tournament.
Poland Committed to Euro 2012 Co-Hosting
Despite rumors to the contrary, Poland remains fully committed to co-hosting Euro 2012 with Ukraine. Adam Olkowicz, head of the Polish Euro 2012 organizing committee, has dismissed suggestions that Poland could host the tournament with Germany instead.
Infrastructure Progress
Poland is making significant progress in the construction and modernization of infrastructure for Euro 2012. Three new stadiums are under construction in Warsaw, Poznań, and Wrocław. Work is also underway on highways, railways, and six airports. Despite the global financial crisis, Poland remains on track to complete all planned projects.
