Early Life and Education

Ade Adepitan (born Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje on August 22, 1967) is a British actor and former model. Born in Islington, London, England, Adewale's name holds significant meaning: Ade means "crown," wale means "homecoming," Akin means "warrior," nuoye is the "position of chief," and Agbaje signifies "prosperity and wealth." Raised in a large family with four sisters, Adewale spent much of his childhood traveling between Nigeria and England.

Childhood Nicknames and Education

In his family, Adewale was known as "Walé," while his schoolmates nicknamed him "Wally Badger." Those who frequently used his full name affectionately referred to him as "Triple A." Adewale attended King's College University in London.

Modeling Career and Faith

Before pursuing acting, Adewale dabbled in the fashion industry as a model for Irene Marie. He is fluent in English, Italian, his parents' native Yoruba, and Swahili. Adewale practices Buddhism.

Film and Television Career

Adewale's acting debut came in 1992 in the music video for Downy Pena's "No, No, No (You Don't Love Me)," playing the role of criminal Simon Adebisi. From 1994 to 1998, he starred as Simon Adebisi in the television series "New York Undercover."

In 1995, Adewale appeared in "Congo," directed by renowned filmmaker Frank Marshall. He went on to star in "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls" (1995), "Deadly Voyage" (1996), and "The Mummy Returns" (2001).

Roles in "Lost" and "Bourne Identity"

Adewale's portrayal of Mr. Eko in the popular television series "Lost" (2004-2008) catapulted him to international fame. He also played the role of Nykwana Wombosi, the deposed African dictator, in the "Bourne Identity" (2001).
