Biography of Adil Kuliyev

Adil Gusein oglu Kuliyev, a pilot and a Hero of the Soviet Union, was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on February 23, 1945, along with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal. He was born on November 22, 1922, in Baku, Azerbaijan, to a peasant family. He became a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1943. Adil Kuliyev served as the deputy commander and navigator of the 65th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment in the 4th Guards Fighter Aviation Division, 1st Guards Fighter Aviation Corps, 3rd Air Army, and 1st Baltic Front. He held the rank of Guards Captain.

Early Life and Military Career

Adil Kuliyev joined the Soviet Army in 1941 and graduated from the Stalingrad Military Aviation School in 1942. He actively participated in the Great Patriotic War from October 1942, fighting in the skies of Belarus, the Baltic States, and Eastern Prussia. On March 14, 1943, his aircraft was shot down near Staraya Russa. Despite this, he managed to fly his damaged plane to the front lines, ejected with a parachute, and safely landed near the front line. By September 10, 1944, Guards Captain Kuliyev had completed 141 combat missions, engaging in 38 aerial battles and shooting down 15 enemy aircraft.

Post-War Life and Achievements

In 1956, Adil Kuliyev graduated from the Military Air Academy. After retiring from active duty, he held the rank of Colonel. He worked as the chief of the Baku Airport and the head of the department of the Azerbaijan Consumer Society. Adil Kuliyev was honored with numerous awards, including the Order of Lenin, three Orders of the Red Banner, the Order of Alexander Nevsky, two Orders of the Patriotic War 1st Class, the Order of the Red Star, and several medals. Adil Kuliyev's dedication and bravery in the Soviet Air Force during World War II made him a national hero and a symbol of courage.
