Prime Minister of Mozambique
Adriano Afonso Maleiane has served as the Prime Minister of Mozambique since March 3, 2022. He is a Mozambican politician and economist.
Early Life and Education
Maleiane graduated with a degree in economics from Eduardo Mondlane University. He went on to earn a master's degree in financial management from the University of London and a postgraduate diploma from the School of Oriental and African Studies.
Career in Banking
From 1991 to 2006, Maleiane served as Governor of the Bank of Mozambique. In 2011, he became the Chairman and CEO of Banco Nacional de Investimento (BNI), a state-owned development bank.
International Experience
Maleiane held positions at international organizations, serving as an Executive Director of the World Bank and Deputy Governor of the International Monetary Fund from 1991 to 2004 in Maputo.
Government Service
From January 2015 to March 2022, Maleiane held the position of Minister of Economy and Finance in the cabinet of President Filipe Nyusi. On March 3, 2022, he was appointed Prime Minister of Mozambique.
Personal Life
Maleiane is married with four children and adheres to the Christian faith.
